"...it is important to know how and when our coping mechanisms constitute unhealthy resistance [(e.g., to change)]. Most of us have tendencies that drive how we deal with stress and resist anxiety…called defensive routines, which we adopt to help us feel more in control.”
~Becoming a Resonant Leader
The feeling of loss of control can be scary and paralyzing. Yet you still have as much control of yourself as you ever did. And, of course (and unfortunately!), we still can’t control others. Your coach is equipped to conduct targeted inquiry with you to first identify your expectations, help you understand the feeling of loss of control, and identify proactive and self-affirming action steps toward a better future—whether or not uncertainty remains. This enables you to regain a sense of internal control regardless of what is happening around the world.
